Summer walk with readings reflections, round the Old Town, Meadows and Holyrood Park.
Booking will be available soon to reserve your space.
Explore and celebrate the flourishing nature of the life of the parish and its multiplicity of connections with the wider world. The route is designed to follow, as far as possible, the actual boundary of the parish, making use of pavements, steps and many green spaces. Please ensure you are able to navigate Edinburgh’s hilly streets and grassy areas on foot. There is an option for people who wish to avoid the first part of the walk in the Old Town and its steps to join in slightly later, still gathering at Greyfriars at 2pm.
Walkers meet at Greyfriars Kirk, for a 2pm start. This circular walk, finishing at the Kirk, is expected to take around 3 hours, including stops for reflection and a tea party, with soft drinks and “Celebrate 400” cakes to enjoy. Depending on weather this will either take place in one of the parks we will visit, or at a suitable location indoors. Please feel free to bring your own drinks and snacks too.
Suggested donation £5 or pay what you can.
Boundary details informing the route are taken from the Church of Scotland’s ‘statistics for mission’:
