The Kirk is the perfect venue for informal social events for 50-300 people. The Kirk is used for special occasions to celebrate notable birthdays and retirements.  The venue can be used for fundraising for your sponsored charity or for a routine corporate event.

With its wooden floor cleared of chairs and tables, the Kirk is an ideal setting for a ceilidh. The hire charge for informal social functions includes a three-hour afternoon set-up on the same day as the event. The usual start time for social events is 7-8 pm with a midnight finish.

The Kirk has limited kitchen facilities.  You should organise a caterer to provide your catering requirements and we are able to recommend reputable caterers who have operated in the Kirk.  Please note NO cooking (of raw veg/meats) is allowed in the Kirk so all food should be prepared elsewhere.   Heating up food on portable ranges or hired-in ovens is possible.  At the end of the event catering equipment, foods and waste should be taken out of the building.

The Kirk is able to provide trestle tables.  All tableware (tablecloths, cutlery, crockery and decoration) should be hired-in.

Alcohol may be consumed in the Kirk.  However, a City of Edinburgh council occasional licence is required prior to the operation of any cash bar facility.  This should be arranged by the organiser and presented to the Operations Manager three days before the event.  Bring your own bottle (BYOB) is not a problem and no licence is required for alcohol that is consumed without a monetary transaction.  Please note that no drinks (alcoholic or non-alcoholic) can be consumed outside the Kirk.
