Greyfriars Kirk possesses some historical records concerning baptisms at the Kirk (1855-present) and burials in the Kirkyard cemetery between 1658-1867.

In order to cover the administrative and research costs of historical, genealogical, grave locations and photo requests, we charge £10 per search. Additional copies or photos of historical records, gravestones or memorials can be requested for an additional £5 per item.  Search fees are not refundable – even if records cannot be located. Payment must be received in advance of the search via bank transfer or PayPal.

Should your request fall outside the bounds of our held records as above, the National Records of Scotland also holds Kirkyard records and they can be contacted by clicking here. The Records office is the definitive source for Scottish genealogical enquires and research. In addition to the records held at HM General Register House, the Church of Scotland also has some excellent information online regarding the access of parish records by clicking here. Another great option for genealogical research is to contact the Scottish Genealogy Society, a centre for researching family history.

Should you wish Greyfriars Kirk to investigate your request let us know via email, and once we have processed any payments due, we will pass your query on to our historical and genealogical team.
