Putting our future first

Children are an integral part of the congregation at Greyfriars Kirk and we are delighted to welcome our younger visitors weekly, monthly, or just once in a while. We have a thriving Crèche (Preschoolers), Sunday School (for Primary aged children) and Youth Group (for secondary aged children and beyond).

Children are treated as important members of the church community, and all of our volunteers have been cleared by Disclosure Scotland. If you would like more information then please contact Kate Frazer.

Crèche

Every Sunday there are crèche facilities for small children and members and visitors are most welcome to make use of these facilities at the back of the church, straight ahead under the organ gallery.

Sunday School

On the first Sunday of each month, Sunday School meets. The morning service at 11am takes account of the presence of children, and special activities are arranged for the children of the church to participate. The children of visitors are most welcome to join in.

Youth

The Youth Group meets once a month. They gather in a café close to Greyfriars during the time of the service and engage in discussion about matters of faith and life. They are also involved in catering the sandwich lunch we offer at the end of each morning service.

Baptisms

The gift of a new child is always a moment of celebration and gratitude and a profound responsibility. The ministry team at Greyfriars are always happy to discuss the possibility of baptism, as a sign of our desire to nurture our children in the light of faith. Baptism normally takes place at a Sunday service, and there is no charge for this. Get in touch with our office for more information.
