On the 26th of November, we had a special service to celebrate Rev. Richard Frazer’s final service as Minister of Greyfriars Kirk. Richard and his wife, Kate, who has also given so much to the community, have been with us for 20 years!
The service included prayers led by Rev. Fiona Bennett (Augustine Utd. Church) and Rev. David Paton-Williams (St Columba’s by the Castle), a Gaelic reading given by Rody-John McLeod on behalf of our Gaelic congregation and a passage was read in Scots by Leslie Munro.
Richard, who insists he is not retiring and adopting the Spanish alternative ‘jubilación’ instead, has left a legacy at Greyfriars that will continue to shape our ministry going forward. Staying on as chair for the Grassmarket Community Project and Greyfriars Charteris Centre, he will still be involved in the ministry projects he established.
Richard and his family will be a huge miss for us, but after two decades of dedication and a grandchild on the way, we support this well deserved change. The turnout for his final service was testament to that.
A special thank you to all of those who were able to join us, especially those who travelled a distance to be there. We wish them all the best for their relocation to Findhorn and hope this next stage of life brings them health and happiness. Here are a few images that captured the day so beautifully.
