In this concert, Meadows Chamber Orchestra principal conductor and musical adviser, Peter Evans, is appearing as a soloist in the first half of the programme alongside leader, Tim Wright, and cellist Hugh Mackay in a performance of Beethoven’s Triple concerto for Violin, Cello and Piano.
They are delighted to work with Peter Nelson again who will conduct the concerto and Jonathan Pitkin’s ‘Mesh’ which the orchestra commissioned and performed in 2008. In the second half, Peter Evans takes the baton in Shostakovich’s first Symphony written when he was just 19, and instantly established him as a major new force in 20th century music.
