Greyfriars Kirk & St Cuthbert’s Union

So as of the 1st of August 2026, Greyfriars was united with St Cuthbert’s Parish Church. We are now called Edinburgh: Greyfriars St Cuthbert’s (Church of Scotland). Both buildings will remain used for Sunday morning worship at 1030, and the Gaelic Service will continue in Greyfriars at 1230 every week. There may have to be an adjustment in the timings of the early morning and weekday services as, from September, we will have one part-time minister serving the congregation across both sites. He is the Rev. Dr. George Whyte, who will be both Interim Moderator and Locum Minister.

As well as agreeing the Union the Presbytery gave us permission to call a minister and that process is now underway. We are trusting that, with God’s help, we will call the right person. He or she is out there but, of course, they do not yet know where they will be led and we do not know who they are.  Please remember everyone involved in your prayers

This is the beginning of the next stage in the journey for our new, united congregation.

There are changes to come as we move forward to become stronger than our individual parts. We step into the future trusting in God’s guiding hand.
