Welcome to Greyfriars @ 12, our free Thursday concert series. Today’s performance will be given by Terra Invisus ensemble in partnership with Lithuanian Culture Institute.
Terra Invisus present their new project BETWEEN TWO and a programme of new music by Lithuanian and British composers. While promoting cultural dialogue the programme will also commemorate the 150th anniversary of the birth of Lithuanian composer and painter M.K. Čiurlionis. You‘ll hear the ensemble improvising on a musical theme by Čiurlionis alongside two world premieres by Lithuanian composers and recent works by Scottish composers.
About Terra Invisus:
Terra Invisus is a contemporary music trio performing contemporary classical and experimental music. The trio consists of Alex Lyon (clarinets), Rebecca Burden (cello) and Milda Vitartaitė (piano). The trio actively collaborates with both young and experienced composers, performs and records new music. Terra Invisus trio has been noticed and received recommendations from internationally renowned composers in the United Kingdom: Martin Suckling, Dominic Murcott, Lawrence Crane, Arnold Griller. A significant part of the trio’s creative activity is free improvisation. In 2021, Terra Invisus was awarded the Colin Blythe scholarship and won first place in the Gladys Puttick Improvisation Competition, organized by the Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance in London. In 2024, Terra Invisus released their debut album “Visions”, which consists of compositions specially commissioned for the album.
