The McIntosh Choral Program was established in 1981. The one hundred and fifty member program consists of two non auditioned choirs and three auditioned choirs. Students in this choral program perform both formal choral literature and contemporary music. Under the direction of Richard Prouty, McIntosh choirs have consistently received superior ratings and receive many invitations to perform for special events throughout the year. The McIntosh Choral Department also has a long standing tradition of touring domestically and internationally. Students from this program often go on to pursue professional music careers in performance and education. McIntosh is in the Fayette County Public School System, which consists of five high schools, five middle schools, and fifteen elementary schools. McIntosh High School is a comprehensive four-year high school with an enrollment of 1600+ students in grades nine through twelve. The school opened in 1981-82 and has received numerous awards in academics, athletics, and in the fine arts. The faculty and staff at McIntosh High School embrace the vision “to inspire a community of critical thinkers who use passion and creativity to solve tomorrow’s problems”. Their mission is to work together to inspire and empower our community.
